Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Have a Swiftie who wants to learn to put on their own Taylor Swift concert!? Then this is just the summer activity you’re looking for! In our Taylor Swift Summer Music Camp, learners will meet for 45 minutes, five days straight, to learn songs from a specific Taylor Swift era! Learners will begin by learning the proper chords on the Piano to play the songs, and will then be taught how to sing the song, using the proper breath, pitch, and vocal techniques. By the end of our time together, your students will be able to confidently play and sing three songs from a Taylor Swift era, gearing up to give their own at-home concert.

The Class Structure:
In our time together, learners will spend their time growing in their piano skills, learning new chords, working on playing on tempo with a song, and learning to accompany themselves with an instrument. Learners will grow in their vocal ability, learn to sing from their diaphragm, and work on breath control, and pitch.

Throughout our 45-minute classes, learners will begin by learning the day’s song on the piano (see syllabus for the song of the day), in which a chord sheet will be sent out to go along with our song. Students will then move on to learning the song vocally. By the end of the class, the students will be able to play and sing the song.

On the final day of our camp, day 5, students will play all three songs back to back, almost like a mini-concert. Students will then be given the opportunity to play and sing a verse and chorus of their choice from the week for their peers. It’s their time to shine and show what they’ve worked on throughout the week! Fellow learners will be encouraged to practice their empathy and encouragement skills and cheer on their peers as they listen.

My Teaching Style:
My goal as a teacher is to make each student feel seen, loved, appreciated, and encouraged throughout our class time. I desire each student to leave class feeling better and brighter than when they logged in. I believe in positive encouragement, and helping my students find their confidence in who they are, along with making sure they have fun during our time together.
I graduated with a bachelor's in Psychology, specifically focused on adolescent Psychology. Bringing this information into my classrooms helps me to connect with the students, grow their social abilities, understand where they are within their formative years, and create a more inviting and safe environment for every student to learn.

I have a bubbly, bright, and fun personality, and I love to spend time connecting with kids to help them grow. It is one of my greatest joys to get to teach. Teaching music classes is near to my heart, as I remember being a young student eager to learn more about the very thing I loved most, music. I desire to only grow that love in our students as they learn new things musically.
