In this two-week course we will study plot and character development using the novel Stormbreaker (Alex Rider Series Book #1) by Anthony Horowitz. This course is geared toward strong readers who enjoy reading. Students will complete the reading assignments outside of the class, though we will read segments together during our discussions. In addition to reading assignments for homework, there are brief writing assignments and a creative final project. Students will learn about plot and...
Students will be able to: ~identity the seven plot elements ~identify and discuss the various elements of character development ~identify tone and mood ~make predictions ~identify simile, metaphor, and personification in the text ~identify conflicts various characters experience ~write brief summaries of specific passages of the text ~compare and contrast characters in the text

Students will have a reading assignment and a brief writing assignment to complete before each class, as well as a creative final project.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
