Summer Reading Tutoring for Struggling Readers Structured Literacy Approach is a program designed to help students with literacy difficulties improve their reading skills. In this twice-a-week tutoring session, students will be taught literacy skills that will help them read faster and with more accuracy. This program is comparable to the content in my private reading sessions which most of my learners see reading improvement after a couple of sessions. The program is designed for students who are struggling with reading comprehension, fluency, and phonemic awareness. Specifically, for students who are struggling and in 1st & 2nd grade. We start at the beginning. Struggling learners can be students who have difficulties with decoding or recognizing words. They may also struggle with reading fluency and have difficulties with spelling and writing. The structured literacy approach is a research-based instructional method that teaches students to read by breaking down words into smaller parts. It focuses on teaching phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension in a structured and sequential manner. This method works well for struggling readers because it provides them with a clear and consistent framework for learning how to read. The program meets twice a week, and students will have daily homework practice to retain the skills learned during the class. If you would like to speed up your child’s progress you can add on weekly private tutoring sessions. If your student is struggling to sound out single-letter phonograms such as cat, bat, or map this group class would not be suitable for them. Please see our private tutoring lessons where we would first work to get your student those skills.

Hello! My name is Mrs. JaLes and I am dedicated to proving that learning is effective when kids have the freedom to explore. What do I mean by this? From a early age our kids are learning everything from exploring (touching, engaging, inquiring, investigating, practicing, reassessing, and finally conquering). Then they start school and we add structure and try to make them fit in a box. As a homeschool educator, I challenge my students to live out of the box and achieve greatness by mastering skills based on their learning style and interests. It's truly amazing the facts my kids recall without ever working on memorization and how much improvement in their critical thinking skills I've seen in such a short time.
These are the classes I want to explore with your children!
* Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, & Division Workshops
* Writing Workshops
* Reading Skills
* Master Phonograms
*Spelling
I am currently a homeschool teacher for 2nd/3rd and 7th grader. I earned my Bachelor's of Science Degree from Oral Roberts University. Professionally, I have worked as an corporate trainer and process developer. As you can see, I enjoy teaching others.
I am a ball of eclectic fun. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and vlogging my experience. Overall, I just enjoy living and learning as much as I can. I am excited to meet you and hope to see you in the classroom soon.
