In this early childhood circle time, we will explore what happens when one is subtracted from any number. Together, we will practice counting groups of objects and subtracting one from the total. Discussion will include an introduction of the minus and equal signs. This class will include a greeting song, question of the day, read aloud that will be tied to our focus skill ("Ten Shiny Snails" by Ruth Galloway), and subtraction practice with many opportunities for participation. After the class, a practice sheet will be posted to the session page as an optional reinforcement opportunity. Children should be comfortable counting to ten in order to participate in this class.
