Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 5
These tutoring sessions will focus on students' grade-level math domains, including counting, number recognition, operations in base ten, fractions, measurement and data, and geometry. Students performing above or below grade-level will receive extension or remediation in necessary skills.

During the first tutoring session, students will not only share their strengths and weaknesses within the subject, but will be given a pretest to guide the instruction of future tutoring sessions.

Sessions will include skills and knowledge - what students need to know and be able to do as well as mathematical practices. Lessons will include visual representations, real-world examples, modeling, and opportunities for practice. During math tutoring, the teaching style will follow a coaching model that involves the use of examples, demonstrations, and guided practice. Instruction will include slides, video clips, mathematical stories, number talk discussions, and games.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Reuer and I am excited to join this online learning community! I have been teaching in an elementary classroom for 10+ years, and currently teach first grade. I love all things literacy, and am passionate about teaching English Language Arts and developing early literacy skills!

I have a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Ashland University, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. My credentials/ licensure areas include Early Childhood Education Preschool-3rd Grade, Generalist 4th-5th Grade, Reading Kindergarten-12th Grade, and Principal Preschool-6th Grade. My recent professional training includes Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham, Core Knowledge Language Arts, and Heggerty Phonemic Awareness. I am currently enrolled in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling).

I truly believe that establishing a strong foundation in the primary grades, especially in literacy, will set children up for success throughout their lives. While foundational academic skills are vital, they should be balanced with consideration to the full range of developmental needs, including social, emotional, physical, and mental development. In the physical classroom and online, all children should be provided with safe, welcoming learning environments and rich learning experiences.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my three children (ages 12, 10, and 5), and experiences new things with them. I also love reading and volunteering with our local youth softball/ baseball league! Thank you for viewing my profile - I look forward to learning with your child and cultivating a love of literacy, learning and growing.
