Class Experience
The class will begin with introductions. I will then sing a welcoming song followed by a read-aloud of a story called A Chair For My Mother by Vera B. Williams. The story is about a family that lost their belongings in a fire and how they work together to save enough money to buy a wonderful chair. I will include gentle questioning about predictions and invitations to reflect and comment. I will invite the students to tell their favorite part of the story. When the story is finished, the...
I am a certified teacher for elementary grades 1-6 and deaf/HH preK-12. I have taught young children for many years and worked as an educational interpreter for deaf students as well.
• One piece of paper • One black Sharpie or other black marker • Color crayons, markers, or colored pencils
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
