In this one week course over spring break students will learn tactics, opening repertoire, and play games against each other and myself. The perfect beginner course to learn and have fun with chess in one week!

Homework
1 hour per week. Optional homework will be provided after each class for students to practise the topics learned in the class. Students are highly encouraged to complete the homework to maximise their learning and improvement

No grading is provided. Feedback is available anytime

Class Experience

This course is designed for students eager to improve their chess skills by learning various tactics and applying them in their games This class is perfect for students who are familiar with all the rules of the game but not much more. 

Throughout the course students will learn basic tactics and have a chance to practise their knowledge with puzzles every class. The classes are highly interactive and students are always encouraged to ask questions. The students will play a game every class against other students and against myself.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We will use lichess to play games during the class. A free account will be required to facilitate classroom activities. More details will be provided before the class starts
Pre-Requisites
Students should be familiar with all the rules of the game and how to move all the pieces. Students may have been introduced to basic tactics but this is a beginner course and in depth knowledge of any chess topics is not required.

I have been teaching chess for 12 years, and i've taught students from 5 years old to adult, from complete beginner to strong club player. I've also been a competitive chess player for 20 years. I have also taught many spring break camp format classes as well and enjoy seeing students having fun and making friends while learning chess.
