Description
Class Experience
From my experience, kids learn languages much more quickly when they are doing something that interests them. Since this is a second language learning class, I feel real life exposure in the language will help them retain what they learn. Students are encouraged to bring a notebook to class to write the new words and recipe down.
Homework is optional: I would love for the students to practice their culinary skills, making the dessert for a friend or family member and using their new Spanish vocabulary to explain the process.
Please have the following supplies and ingredients ready before we begin class: oil (canola, sunflower, vegetable, or coconut) * if you use coconut oil, make sure it is liquified before class brown sugar water all purpose flour cocoa powder salt vanilla 2 TBS Chocolate Chips, and some for garnish Equipment: Tablespoon Teaspoon Half teaspoon microwavable mug (one that can hold at least 1 cup of ingredients) fork (to mix) * I am not sponsored by any cooking or baking products
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
At the end of class, we will review the new words we have learned, and test taste our food, of course!
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We are using the microwave, and students may need a little help handling the hot mug to view whether it is done cooking.
