Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will be expected to watch the video lecture each week, complete the accompanying practice assignment, and weekly quizz.
Assessment
Students will be assessed on their course progress and mastery through an assignment and quiz each week to accompany the lesson. Students that submit assignments during the teacher interaction window will receive feedback from the teacher.
Grading
Students requiring a letter grade for their academic plan should let the instructor know within the first week of class. Students that do not complete the course within the teacher interaction window will not receive a grade.

This self-paced course for teens is designed to equip learners with the skills needed to excel in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

In this flexible, self-paced class, students will dive into the role of a Social Media Manager, learning how to build a brand and grow a business through effective digital marketing strategies.

🎯 Personal Branding: Developing a personal brand to enhance career opportunities.

🎯 Platform Mastery & Content Strategy: Gaining expertise in platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and more, and learning best practices for content strategy.

🎯 Marketing Strategy: Formulating and executing a comprehensive social media marketing strategy.

🎯 Campaign Management: Learning the steps to create, execute, and monitor successful social media campaigns.

🎯 Analytics and Optimization: Using analytics to measure performance and optimize strategies.


Class Structure:

Each week, students will engage in:

1️⃣ Video Lectures: Concise and informative video lectures (10-15 minutes each) introducing the week's topic.
2️⃣ Assignments: 2-3 practical assignments that apply the week's lessons to real-world scenarios. Assignments are optional and can be submitted for feedback during the teacher interaction window.
2️⃣ Quizzes: Weekly quizzes with 5-10 multiple-choice questions to reinforce the material. Quizzes are auto-graded and provide immediate feedback.

Teaching Style:

 Students will be introduced to the field of social media marketing and determine careers available and skills needed in the social media marketing space.

 Students will define their personal brand through their target audience, vision and purpose, values, passions, and goals. Students will understand the platforms and tools available to market their personal brand for networking and career opportunities.

 Students will understand the steps of developing a comprehensive social media marketing strategy and create a one-week social media content calendar for a brand.

 Students will understand the role of Facebook and Instagram in a company's overall marketing strategy and develop a post idea to leverage these platforms to achieve a brand's marketing goals.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
In weekly application assignments, students may be asked to analyze and evaluate the success of the social media presence of the brand of their choosing on a particular social network. While these assignments are optional, students that choose to complete the assignments will have to navigate the social media profile of a company. Parental guidance is advised.
Supply List
While optional, students will be encouraged in assignments to evaluate a company's social media presence. With parental guidance, students will need to access social media networks in these assignments.

Assignments can be downloaded as a editable word document and can be completed on the word document and submitted to the teacher during the teacher interaction window for feedback.

Students will take quizzes via Google Forms.

Students will be provided with the link to purchase the accompanying online textbook for this class, "Essentials of Social Media Marketing,” by Michelle Charello.
