Even though most kids do not have the cognitive skills to organize their own schedules until the teenage years we can start teaching them how to plan and prioritize their time now. When children learn strategies for time management at an early age they internalize these strategies which sets them up for lifelong success. Poor time management skills can also lead to us getting stressed and overwhelmed which then affects other areas of our life. In this class we will learn simple everyday tips that will help us manage our time more purposefully. We will learn the importance of keeping a schedule, to avoid distractions when trying to get tasks done, how complaining about tasks wastes our time and when we complain we have negative thoughts about our tasks making them harder to get done. We will learn the meaning of procrastination and prioritize as well as engage in discussion about these terms. I will show a jar experiment to show them what happens when we don’t manage our time well and what happens when we do manage our time well. At the end of class we will go over a worksheet (that will be posted in the classroom after class) that I suggest students do. This worksheet will have them color in their day as it progresses, (green for fun, orange for obligations, etc.) so students can visually see what their day looks like and find out where they need to make changes. I also suggest students use this worksheet to help them fill in their schedule. ***Time management is a critical thinking skill that helps us be successful. It's never too early to learn time management skills. In fact, the younger you begin to practice personal responsibility the more successful you will be the older you get! Learning about Time Management is not a super fun topic but I believe that having good time management skills is a key part to being successful in life! I use PowerPoint to teach the class, try to incorporate humor, ask kids to participate in discussion, relate time management to their lives, and show a few real life examples to keep kids engaged!*** Time management and being organized go hand in hand. I would highly recommend taking my "Conquering The Clutter" course after this one!

Bachelor's Degree from Tarleton State University
Hello! My name is Pamela. I am a mom to two boys and two dogs! I have a Bachelors degree in Sociology. My passion is organizing! I help people get their homes and lives organized through my professional organizing business. Being unorganized causes stress and anxiety and can lead to us getting overwhelmed which then affects other areas of our lives. I believe a key part to being successful in school, college, a career, and in life is to be organized! In addition to being organized, I believe we need to posses good time management skills, ways to cope with stress and anxiety, and effective communication and listening skills in order to be successful. I am also the director of a nonprofit and through my organization I teach these valuable life skills to adults, teens, and kids. Let me help prepare your child for success. You can never start too early!
