Class Experience

In this lesson we will explore what the terms 'gratitude' and 'being grateful' mean. We will then think about what we have to be grateful for over the past year. The children will think about their favourite memories, lessons learned and their proudest moments etc. I will show a short animation clip called 'What If?' which includes an original song. This is what we will use as our inspiration for writing our 2022 goals and aspirations. The lesson will be taught through the use of interactive presentation slides.
Where children feel confidant to do so, I will encourage discussions and sharing of ideas although they do not need to have any prior knowledge or experience of gratitude or goal setting.
Learners will produce a poster style piece of work by the end of the lesson.

Learning Goals

1. to understand what being grateful means
2. to share ideas and participate in discussions (where appropriate)
3. to set fun, interesting and achievable goals for the year ahead

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome to my profile.

I'm Nicki and I've worked in Primary schools for 15 years and for the last 2 years I've moved into online teaching. I have experience working with children from ages 3 - 11 and I have taught all primary level subjects.

I often get asked if I have a favourite subject to teach and the short answer is no! I just love engaging children in fun and creative ways and my favourite types of lessons are where children don't just answer questions, they ask them. The classes I offer, range from basic Maths and English skills to Art and creative thinking lessons - and everything in between. I am extremely passionate about providing sessions for learners that enables them to be successful in the future so I try and have a focus on developing key life skills, such as resilience, public speaking, critical thinking and nurturing creativity, all whilst developing confidence and igniting their imagination.

As well as online teaching and tutoring, I currently work as an educational consultant and I create original teaching content for schools and home schooling parents. The lessons include original animations, performing artists and a whole range of exciting activities which focus on developing vital, core life skills. I can't wait to teach these sessions to your little learners.

When I'm not teaching, I am often out and about exploring with my 3 year old. I enjoy taking him to new places and discovering new things. I love how at that age everything is full of awe and wonder (I think this is why I strive to create a bit of this in each and every lesson). I'm not the best cook but I do enjoy baking and more recently I've been spending my time undertaking art and craft projects.
