Description
Class Experience
-Students will have a better understanding of each part of speech and how each is used to enhance writing. -Students will learn to use items in their environment to spark ideas to elaborate on ideas in their writing. -Students will gain confidence identifying and using a variety of sentence structures in story development to improve creative writing skills.
I have been an elementary teacher for over 20 years. Teaching all subjects areas and various grade levels. In my experience, grammar (sentence structure) and writing have been taught as separate subject areas. In this lesson, we will learn how these are dependent on each other as we build sentences starting from the base (noun-subject/verb). Instead of dissecting and taking a sentence apart to just recall the part of speech. We will see details of a sentence expand and develop as we add the different parts of speech. Students will be guided to begin with a noun and verb to build a detailed sentence. Students will gain a better understanding of how the structure of a sentence can be used to develop descriptive sentences and stories. Class size will be kept to a minimum so that each student will get individualized instruction as needed.
