Shape the Day With Polymer Clay
Students will learn fundamentals of clay making by creating personalized clay projects such as a coil pot, abstract clay face plate, and a pinch pot.
Each learner will learn crafts that will teach them sculpting techniques with polymer clay. Visual inspiration from sculptors around the world will be used for inspiration and reference. Games will be used to encourage technique and understanding of how speed and pressure affect clay. Class time is structured on the goal to ensure that each student does not feel rushed or held back on their progress. Time will be set aside during class to ensure each student has time to ask questions on how...
Students will enhance motor skills, learn sculpting techniques, learn patience and listening skills, and be encouraged to express themselves through their artwork. Not all pieces are encouraged to look exactly alike. All students will learn the basic forms to create the plate or pot desired.
All supplies can be found at your local craft store or around your home: · Polymer Clay: use whatever brand you prefer (Sculpey, Fimo, etc.). I use and recommend Sculpey Premo however, Sculpey Souffle is softer, so your learner might find it easier to work with. Your learner can choose 3 main colors. They also can use an 8oz pack of white polymer clay. After baking they can paint their creations with acrylic paint. · paper towel or wet wipe (used to clean sculpting tools and working space) · Flat clean working space · Sculpting tools (it is okay if you do not have all of them): old card, tooth pick, round pencil with eraser · Cookie sheet & small bowl or glass cup with a round bottom. You will also need an oven to bake our creations after class!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students might need supervision and/or help when using the oven to bake clay creations after class.
