Semester #1 Piano Music Class (includes First 4 Piano Lessons and Piano Music Class #1) This class is a fun piano music class. We have a wonderful opportunity to have that "It's Music Day" feeling! Every week, learners will be introduced to a key concept in reading and understanding music as well as a new song to practice. Songs will start easy as one hand songs and gradually progress into more challenging two hand songs. Lesson 1: Welcome games and challenges, finger numbers, C position for Right hand SONG: Exercise #1, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Jingle Bells Lesson 2: Introduction to Treble Clef staff and Bass Clef staff, C position for Left hand SONG: Exercise #2, Ode to Joy Lesson 3: Review Treble Clef and Bass Clef notes, introduction to time signatures and note values, counting beats exercises SONG: BINGO Lesson4: Game "What Note is it?" SONG: Exercise #3, Exercise #4, Ten Little Pumpkins, Row, Row, Row Your Boat Lesson 5: Review keys on the piano, letter names, finger numbers, Treble Clef and Bass Clef notes, and Treble Clef Matching Game. SONG: Skip To My Lou Lesson 6: Find 3 of each note on the keyboard, review Treble Clef and Bass Clef notes, and Bass Clef Matching Game. SONG: London Bridge Lesson 7: Introduction to rhythms and time signatures, Clap & Count Music Matching Game. Learning Goals
Learners will be taught a song each week. Over the semester, we will cover note reading, rhythm counting, musical intervals, scales, and dynamics with fun games and a slideshow sent to each learner's Outscshool email so practicing can continue during the week between classes.
Other Details
Supply List
Learners will get access to a class slideshow with the songs and instructions updated weekly for practicing. Learners will need a keyboard or piano and paper and pencil. It is important that learners can see the class slideshow on their device during classtime. The new music will be displayed on the screen during class and emailed to students after class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! I am Mrs. Pauli. I am an online piano teacher for students who want to play songs and learn to read music! I have been a private piano teacher and music instructor for over 28 years after earning my BA in Music at California State University, Long Beach. My strength is in introducing music theory and piano skills to young students in a way that makes learners feel successful and confident. Students feel accomplished playing beautiful songs on piano while learning to read music and seeing their practice efforts pay off.
My classes run in a series starting from Piano Music Class Level A (Primer), next into Piano Music Class Level B through Piano Music Class Level J as consistent piano classes.
Piano Music Class Series Levels A - F are 10 week classes each over 1 term.
Piano Music Class Series Levels G - J are 20 week classes each over 2 terms.
