Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner Level
This class is perfect for the early beginner and will set your child up for success in music! This class is designed specifically for 3 - 5 years old. I have over 30 years of teaching 3 -9 year-olds in group lessons as well as private lessons for ages 5 - Adult.

This is a great first step to learning music notation and seeing if they are interested. I teach in a very patient, fun, and engaging style. No prior knowledge is needed.

Every week, we will review concepts during the first 5 minutes. This gives confidence to learners while reinforcing concepts!! They get more excited when they know the answers to the questions, replying excitedly.

We will learn the names of notes on the piano and the musical notation in songs. Rhythm games will help internalize rhythm supporting your child's overall learning and cognitive development!

Among these, we will cover the items below:
     - Performance and listening etiquette
     - Proper hand position
     - Finger dexterity exercises
     - Patterns of black keys
     - Quarter, Eighth, Whole, and Half notes
     - Quarter Rests
     - Forte (loud) vs Piano (soft)
     - Sharps vs Flats
     - Simple Songs

These simple songs are written or arranged by myself so no books to purchase, I will send learners songs after class to print, in case your little one wants to practice. I will also send printables for those who want to extend the learning. These are not required for class.

Check the syllabus for more details of each week's class! I hope to see your learner in class.

Any type of piano or keyboard is welcome.
