Welcome to Mrs. Wilkerson’s class. During this lesson, students will be creating their own “lava lamps” while also learning basic science principles that go hand in hand. These principles will include matter and density!

This lesson will include a fun science experiment. During this 30 minute class, the students will be creating their very own lava lamps. Your student(s) will need a water bottle or jar, a cup of water, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, Alka Seltzer tablets and their choice of food coloring. They may also want a flashlight to shine through the bottle. During the lesson, students will also be learning about matter, density and the reason that oil and water do not combine. Join us for a fun time of learning and Science!

Supply List
A water bottle or jar (16 oz) , a cup of water (about 8-10 oz) , 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, Alka Seltzer tablets and their choice of food coloring (up to 2 colors). They may also want a flashlight to shine through the bottle.
