USE COUPON CODE "SUZANNETEEN5" TO GET $5 OFF THIS CLASS! CODE EXPIRES 6/10/24! This is the "Zone Level 1" class - for teens! This class is an introduction to bettering your social interaction skills (also known as "pragmatics") by learning about being "in the zone" of expected social behaviors. We'll define "the zone" and describe it, give examples, and discuss real-life situations. Students have the opportunity to answer specific questions during the class, and to ask questions as they go regarding real-life situations they've faced. The subjects covered in Level 1 for Kids have been expanded upon and tailored to be teen-appropriate. The class consists of 40 minutes of lecture/class participation, rather than 30 minutes, in order to better meet the needs of teen learners. Inclusion and accommodation matter! Information is presented in multiple modalities for different types of learners - auditory lecture, text slides, and both drawings and photos.
Learning Goals
Students will learn what it means to be in or out of the zone (of expected social behaviors). They will learn to recognize when they are doing something unexpected, which might elicit a negative response, and when they are doing what is socially expected, which would be more likely to elicit a positive response from others.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
There is a mention of "asking out" (like dating), and no mention of bullying, but there is always a chance that learners will bring these topics up as something they want to discuss as a part of social interactions, social communication, and real-life circumstances.
