Does your child know basic letter sounds but you’re not sure where to go from here? In this beginning reading class, we will broaden student’s current knowledge of consonant and short vowel sounds to reading a simple book. Each child will receive an opportunity to read at least a portion of the CVC word family ladder after the group introduction on how to blend the sounds. We will then play a game to review those words in a different format before reading a simple book together. If your child does not know single consonant and short vowel sounds, please contact me prior to class. Class time is approximate and may vary slightly depending on the size of the class as well as student attention span. We will finish within five minutes of the designated time. Class will begin on time, even if only one learner is in the classroom. If no students are present, the teacher will exit the classroom after 10 minutes. Thank you in advance for your promptness! See you soon for some reading fun!
Learning Goals
Students will take single letter sound knowledge and progress to reading words in the “at” family before reading a simple book. Children (parents) will also be given access to the online memory game so that your child may play it for review after class, if desired. This class is part one of “Beginning Reading.” Children are encouraged to sign up for section 2 where a new word family, new game, and new book will be introduced.

When I'm not in the classroom, I love to spend time outside walking or working in my yard, reading, or spending time with friends. I also like to bake bread and make cookies.
