Class Experience

In this multiple-day class, students will laugh, giggle, and think. We will look at, read, and tell riddles and jokes to increase reading comprehension. Students will use clues in the text to figure out why a joke is funny or to solve a riddle. They will use similes, metaphors, personification, homophones, idioms, oxymorons, and word meanings. Students will also analyze text, read closely, infer, and make predictions. All these skills increase reading comprehension. The last class will have a combination of all the skills as we celebrate with games. The most loved games include Stump the Teacher and Students vs Teacher Laugh Challenge!

Students will interact with each other. They will share riddles and jokes that they love. They will solve riddles together. They will also understand why a joke is funny as they laugh together. As they are laughing through class, they are learning key figurative language skills. Students will also read closely, analyze text, infer, and make predictions to further increase their reading comprehension. What a fun way to increase reading comprehension and brainpower!

This class meets 4 times over 2 weeks.
