Section 1 and 2 can be taken in any order. Each section covers the same concepts but has different stories. In this one time class we will be learning about reading comprehension. We will be learning the 5W's of reading, by using this technique it teaches students to listen and comprehend what is happening in a story. 5W's of Reading - Who -What -When -Where -Why During class we will go over the terms and talk about what we will look for in a story. We will read 2 stories in class and then we will discuss the 5W's and what we heard in each of the stories. We will use slides during class to show the story as we read it out loud as well. Students will use a worksheet provided when we read a story. During the story students will be practicing writing on their own and answering the questions of the 5W's. This will be a fun and interactive class that will allow students to practice reading comprehension while still having fun.
Learning Goals
Students will practice reading (if they choose) we will read stories together and work on answering questions about the 5W's.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Kaplan University
I have been working with children for over 10 years and have been teaching online for 5 years. I enjoy seeing the excitement in children when they learn new things. I love teaching young children ABC's, colors and counting. I have taught preschool and elementary school age children for the last 6 years. Being able to use an online platform to expand my student reach has been great! I have always had a passion for learning about other countries and cultures. I enjoy teaching History, Geography, Math and English. I have taught several subjects in the past but I have extensive experience in the classroom with reading comprehension as well as history. I like to make history fun by learning about the different cultures and people. I believe in interactive learning by having each child participate in the class. Teaching children new skills to help them develop has been a passion of mine for several years now. I like to use graphics and props in my class to keep children entertained while learning.
A little about me: I am married and have an 11 year old daughter and a German Shepherd dog. We love to travel and camp as a family.
I can't wait to see you in my Outschool classroom
