Class Experience

Did you know that sight words make up roughly 75% of children's books? Knowing sight words quickly will help your child with reading fluency and confidence.

In this ongoing course, students will learn 5 new sight words per week from the Fry top 100 sight words list, using a variety of learning styles. This course will include reading and writing the sight words and the list we use is approximately 1st grade level.

Each week will follow the same structure:

Introducing each word using orthographic mapping.

An activity where we learn with manipulatives (play dough, pipe cleaners, ect)

An activity where we learn through moving.

Writing each word.

Reading each sight word in a sentence.

A game type activity to review all 5 words from the day.

Learning Goals

Students will learn new sight words and develop fluency and confidence in reading and writing.
