Python Game Developer Summer Camp | Code Fun Games Using Python Code!

This is a camp for students that want to start building games using Python. We'll learn about popular Python game libraries, including Pygame Zero. Students will build fun games over the course of the 4-day camp. They can also share their Python games and projects from outside the course. 

Day 1
Introduce Pygame Zero
Python Libraries and How They Work
Learning about Libraries
Code with Mu for Games
Pygame Zero Space Collector Game
Review Core Coding Concepts Functions, Conditional Statements, and Loops

Day 2
Pygame Zero Space Collector Project Introduction
Add a Scoring System
Using Sprites, Sounds, and Music
Event Loops and Objects

Day 3
Continue with Space Collector Project 
Adding Custom Font
Drawing Your Own Shapes
Extending Space Collector Projects

Day 4
Popular Python Game Libraries 
Project Presentations
Where to Find More Game Ideas

Build Fun Games and Projects with Python 

Over the course students will complete 2 projects with Python. These projects include:

Alien Catcher
Pygame Zero Space Collector


These projects allow students to apply what they have learned with Python while building fun projects! 

Interactive Groups

Every student is strongly encouraged to post questions, sample code, and their projects every step of the way. This gives students the chance to learn from each other and start practicing reading code. The instructor will also be providing feedback and guidance daily throughout the course. 

Tech Requirements

The class is a supportive, positive, and fun environment for all students! Students will need a Windows, Apple Mac, or Linux computer for this camp. Unfortunately, Code with Mu doesn't support Chromebooks or Tablets at this time.
