Description
Class Experience
The goal of this course is to introduce students to the game libraries Pygame and Python Arcade.
I’ve been a professional developer for nearly a decade. In the past I've worked for Dell, Apple, Best Buy, and the Government of New Zealand. Over the last 4 years, I’ve been teaching and mentoring aspiring junior developers.
Students will use Code with Mu, a free code editor designed specifically for beginners. Code with Mu requires any Windows, Apple Mac, or Linux computer.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
4 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
********* This is not a beginner course and students need a good understanding of Python foundations. They should have completed the Level 1 and II Python Summer Camps or the 8-week Python for Beginners Course. There are other comprehensive courses available for beginning students at Outschool! Please, contact me if you have questions. ************** Code with Mu is a code editor designed for beginner / intermediate developers. This is what we will be using throughout our course for our code and also running our games. Python.org, Pygame, and Python Arcade are all resources we will be using to learn more about game development. Students will need a Windows, Apple Mac, or Linux computer for this camp. Unfortunately, Code with Mu doesn't support Chromebooks or Tablets at this time.
