Maximizing Your SAT Success: Tips and Strategies for a Better Test Experience Passing the SAT is a significant accomplishment for many students. To achieve this, it's important to understand the test and its intricate details. Here are some essential tips and goals to help you prepare for the exam: *Recognize that the College Board has its own set of rules that differ from high school tests. *Acknowledge that conventions of standard English are used in usage or punctuation, not sound, which may be quite different from what schools teach. *Practice math skills by completing practice assignments that are similar to the SAT math questions. *Learn time-saving strategies to help you make the most of your time during the exam. *Increase reading comprehension and distinguish between interpretation and factual content *Acquire grammar and punctuation skills that will benefit you in future job-seeking and college preparation. *Practice math skills that will assist in current and future math courses from pre-algebra up to certain aspects of geometry and trig

Homework Offered
I can't make them do homework. With that being said, I highly encourage parents to make sure learners are looking over the notes and practice I send home. It will help them understand what is going on in class and will expose them to additional SAT questions we won't do in class. I will send home this information a little at at time. They don't receive notes until they come back for a second session. Some practice sheets may seem easy when it comes to concepts, especially math. However, doing the practice will allow you to naturally know what to do on the test questions without having to think about it too long. It may mean the difference between remembering how to add positive and negative numbers or multiplying them. You need to know automatically and the practice will assist in that. If students spend a few minutes each day or about 10 minutes a couple of times a week, it makes a huge difference. I do get upset if we have gone over a concept many times in class and the student does not get it, but they have not even looked at the notes.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will send an assessment sheet to the parent once every other week, highlighting achievements or concerns. If something happens sooner, I will contact you. If a student does not show up for class more than a few times in a row, I will send a notice to make sure you are aware.Grades Offered
Just keep watch on handouts in the classroom. Download or save them when I send them. Physical copies are handy, easy to have in class to refer to. Always have paper and pen handy. A basic calculator will be used sometimes, but not mandatory for this class. I don't teach the graphing calculator stuff.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Parental Guidance - I take real SAT questions from the College Board. Everything is age-appropriate. Khan Academy- use for concepts YouTube videos- I insert them in my slides so I have control over them. Links to others may be posted in the classroom, but will be about concepts related to subject matter.
