Do you have an important decision to make? In this class, I will teach basic problem-solving and decision-making techniques. I will provide a review of key ideas in project management- the traditional life-cycle of planning, design, development, and delivery, and will also introduce some other methods, like the agile style of management. I will also introduce a few fun problem-solving and decision-making tools like the Five Whys, the Six Thinking Hats, and the SWOT analysis. You will also need to spend some time out of class to brainstorm, decide on a goal, and prepare your project plan. During our weekly lecture, I will present some concepts, then we can discuss individual goals and answer questions Here is an outline of our class (subject to a little modification as needed): Week One- Defining Project Management- introduction to terms and techniques (Waterfall and Agile) Week Two- Working alone or as part of a team (on ground and online) Week Three- Problem Solving Techniques- the SWOT analysis Week Four- Problem Solving Techniques- the Five Ways Week Five- Problem Solving Techniques- the Six Thinking Hats Week Six- The final project plan presentations
