This one on one course will cover half units of my group kodaly classes where curriculum includes solfege learning, rhythm patterns, head register singing, and several folk songs.
Class experience
In this four week music course, students will be introduced to solfege and will learn syllables and hand signs for "do, re, mi, sol, and la," starting with intervals most natural to children and then moving through the rest of the scale. They will sing "call and response" phrases and learn to recognize each pitch in relation to one another. We will do exercises where teacher plays a note and the student will try to identify it, or teacher will say a name and the student will try to sing...
Students can demonstrate knowledge of hand signs and staff placement (key of F) for "do, re, mi, sol, la." Students will be able to describe "beat" and "tempo" and read rhythms that contain quarter and eighth notes. Students will be able to sing several folk songs from memory, some with hand signs.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
