She enjoys teaching science, history, art, and cooking classes. She brings history alive with her "Life in ..." history classes where students learn about key times in history by experiencing children and families' lives in that time period. "Paint like ..." art classes where students will learn about famous artists and create their own artwork based on the artists' works. "Smart Science" classes where we explore science and complete experiments and projects. Kid Cuisine classes are cooking classes for Young Chefs based on historic foods and science topics. Students should be prepared to make, explore, and create during class. Annette knows hands-on, interactive experiences are the best way for children to learn.

Hello. Welcome to my Fossils Class. We will explore fossils during class. You will get to see real fossils from hundreds of millions of years ago including dinosaur bones! We will make Dinosaur fossils during the second half of class. You will need playdough or oven-dry clay or clay or salt dough (recipe follows). You will also need small plastic toys (dinosaurs if you have them) or leaves and sticks or pieces of pasta or anything your student may want to make a fossil of. You can use playdough, but if you want a more permanent fossil you can make Salt Dough. The recipe is: 1 and 1/3 cup Regular Flour 1/3 cup table salt 1/2 cup water 1. Mix flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. 2. Slowly add water until the dough is soft but not sticky. (You may need less than 1/2 cup of water) 3. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes 4. Store for up to two days in a sealed container or plastic bag. You will also need a couple of pieces of parchment paper or aluminum foil to work on. See the printout for directions on how to bake the dough once the fossils have been made. If using commercial Oven-Dry Clay, please follow the directions on the package to harden the fossil after the class. You can paint your fossils once they are dried. Let me know if you have any questions. See you soon! Annette the Teacher
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will be using Salt Dough (see attached recipe). Alternatively, you can use air dry clay or oven dry clay. These clays may contain wheat, an allergen in some people. Salt dough and the oven-dry dough must be baked at 250 degrees. Adult assistance will be needed.
