Intermediate Level
Polymer Clay Dragon Sculpture Class – Intermediate Level (After Level #1 Sleeping Dragon)

This intermediate polymer clay class is perfect for learners who already know the basics of polymer clay. In this class, you'll learn how to create a standing dragon sculpture while incorporating personal touches.

Key Features:

Learn how to craft your own polymer clay dragon holding an item of your choice, such as:
Glass marble or bead
Polymer clay dragon egg
Small stone, gemstone, or shell
All items can be safely baked with the dragon sculpture!
Class Overview:

Step-by-step instructions with multiple camera angles to show the process clearly.
Work with polymer clay to condition, cut, roll, and form various pieces to create your dragon.
Assemble the body parts and prepare for baking.
Learn techniques to personalize your dragon and make it unique.
Get guidance on applying a professional, glossy lacquer finish after baking, if desired.
Materials Required: A full list of supplies will be provided. These materials are essential for completing your standing polymer clay dragon sculpture.

By the end of the class, you'll have a beautiful, personalized dragon sculpture ready for display, and you'll be equipped with the skills to further enhance your polymer clay creations.

**Polymer clay requires baking according to the package direction. (Generally ~275 °F, depending on your brand of clay). You may do this after class. Parental help is necessary.

Supplies:
Polymer Bake Clay (any brand you prefer. I like to use Sculpey III). *In total, approximately 2oz. is plenty!*
Basic Sculpting tools, smoothing tool, dotting tool (for eye sockets)
1/2 wooden toothpick to attach head to body
A Baking sheet (covered with parchment works best)
A cutting tool (can be a clay knife, anything that you are comfortable with using)
A NON-STICK surface to work on
A small rolling pin or paintbrush handle or anything smooth to roll out small pieces of clay.
A bit of Aluminum Foil
Variety of colors of polymer clay (whatever colors you want for your dragon). At least one main color and an accent color.
Note: Translucent clay can be used for clear wings/fins

OPTIONAL:
Small/Medium GLASS beads/crystals for eyes (4.0 size works nicely). Larger glass bead, marble or gemstone for holding (as in samples)
Clear Mod Podge or Gloss glaze for after baking (I use Sculpey Gloss Glaze)
Mica Powders

A.A.S in Graphic Design

Hi there! I'm Lori—a Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) graduate with over 30 years of experience in the design industry. My journey spans from fashion illustration, pattern making, and garment construction to designing full storyboards for buyers. I’ve also tutored aspiring fashion designers in fashion illustration, helping them build professional portfolios for industry interviews.

While my current profession is in graphic design, fashion illustration remains my creative escape from the digital world. I believe that mastering the fundamentals of design unlocks endless possibilities, allowing you to bring your creative visions to life.

When I'm not sketching or designing, you’ll find me spending time with my furry little beasts—because animals are another passion of mine!

Ready to explore the world of fashion design and illustration? Let’s create something amazing together!

*Angel Rivera Diaz (Mr. A)
Master’s degree in Educational Technology
Graduate degree in Special Education

I’ve been in education for over 14 years, with 8 of those years as a special education teacher specializing in working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, and those with diverse learning needs. I also have a strong background in technology integration and cybersecurity.

In addition to K-12 education, I’ve taught photography, film, video, and animation at Marquette University, where I also ran the Multimedia Technology Lab for over five years. My passion for education and technology led me to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and I’m currently enrolled in an Information Technology graduate program. I’m also just 8 credits away from completing a graduate degree in Special Education.

My approach to learning is a mix of structure and flexibility—giving students the tools they need while encouraging independence, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. I enjoy incorporating technology, hands-on activities, and real-world applications to make learning meaningful and engaging.

Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about photography and travel, and I have a house full of rescue dogs who take their job as my personal “security team” very seriously. Looking forward to connecting!

*Heylon Wolter

Hello, my name is Heylon (like Van Halen) I have been drawing my whole life. When I was about 12 I fell in love with computers and IT and so digital art became a natural passion.
