Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
While exploring the frigid wastes of Frozenfar, the players find themselves fleeing from a foe far too powerful for them. Thanking fate, they find a place of refuge where their foe cannot reach them. But they are quick to learn that something else is taking refuge within. . .

This is a one shot adventure designed both to introduce myself and my Dungeon Master style to players and to provide an entertaining and satisfying D&D experience. After this session players should have an informed idea if they would like to participate in my ongoing campaign offering. This session is a stand alone adventure however, and is not connected, other than my play style, to the ongoing campaign offering.

The first twenty to thirty minutes of the session will address the player’s characters. This will involve either a quick guided character generation session or for players to select a pre generated 5th level character. The remainder of the time will be spent on the adventure itself. As combats take a large amount of time to resolve, the majority of this time will be in combat.

Players of any experience level are welcome. Should a session involve less than four party participants, NPC Sidekicks will be added to the group to strengthen it.

My style as a Dungeon Master is to provide an evocative, cinematic and entertaining game world with interesting dilemmas for the players to solve. I want the players to enjoy themselves, but I believe that all players enjoy a challenge and my games cater to this. I also believe that roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons present the player with a rare opportunity to engage and cultivate imagination. My play style as a Dungeon Master is to nurture imagination and to ask the players to buy into the world they are playing in as the reality that they are engaged with. The intended result is for all the participants to create memorable characters playing in a memorable world that they will look back on fondly one day.
Learning Goals
I hope that the players will learn to play the game in a creative and respectful way. Sportsmanship, camaraderie, creative expression and teamwork are just a few of the attributes I hope to strengthen in participants.
