Beginner - Advanced Level
I have a great deal of experience teaching young people. I taught young people the Olympic sport of fencing for 16 years. My coaching style was patient and encouraging as opposed to the rigid disciplinarian style associated with Eastern European coaches. My coaching style encouraged camaraderie and positivity and this is the style in which I will conduct each session. Each session will begin with a time for questions and resolving any outstanding issues from the previous session. Active play will then proceed for about two and a half hours, ending with another short period of questions and resolution of bookkeeping for the next session. During active play, each participant will have the opportunity to be active in whatever way they choose. Some players are only interested in the action the game offers and some will be interested in giving their characters expression. The campaign is designed to satisfy alol approaches. Regardless of the players approach, my approach as a dungeon master is to present a living game world with dynamic characters for the players to interact with. My training as an actor and talent as a performer will be heavily called upon to deliver these goals. Aside from offering an entertaining and rewarding campaign, my hope is to provide a best practice example of how to play the game to serve as a model for their future play. Of greatest importance to me is the nurturing of imagination, expression and creativity.
Learning Goals
Participants will enjoy a campaign run by a dungeon master with over 40 years of experience. During the course of play the players will sharpen their problem solving, teamwork, critical thinking, decision making and even arithmetical skills.
