In this fun and interactive class learners will discuss their personal space preferences, space bubbles, and having autonomy over their bodies.

Class experience

I have a degree in elementary education and have been working with kids through teaching, coaching, and childcare for over 15 years. I have extensive experience and expertise working with ESL learners. Also, I am raising three boys of my own ( ages 1, 5 & 8). I am often inspired to create classes that cover subjects I find important in my own parenting journey. I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader. To support my curriculum development I dedicate significant time to reading, listening, and learning about the most current research on child development, teaching, and parenting.

My classes are meant to set a foundational work for students to begin thinking of more complex topics. These topics may lead into conversations that are best had with their trusted adults or professionals/experts in the specific field of study.
I provide a printout for class. You will find the link to print it in the classroom welcome message. The handout is an extension activity and not necessary to have for class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class will not discuss unwanted sexual touch. However, depending on what other learners may have discussed prior with their trusted adults, there could be comments from some students about this type of touching. I am prepared to pivot the conversation in a way that will keep everyone's comfort, safety, and feelings in mind.

We will be discussing "being the boss of my body", which means that your learner will be taught that they have the right to say no to any touch that makes them uncomfortable. In this class, the touches that will be referenced are hugs, kisses, snuggles, and high-fives.
