𝗔 𝗳𝘂𝗻, 𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀! Each week, we'll start by reviewing the steps to writing a basic paragraph-- the topic sentence, details, and closing sentence. We'll read an example together, and then I'll provide a topic for the students to write about-- like what sort of pet they'd like to have, what they would do if they went to the moon, the strangest animal they can think of, or perhaps how to score in a sport they play. Students will then take approximately 10 minutes to write their own paragraphs. When we're done, they're invited to read them aloud to the group! This class is an excellent way for students to practice writing in a low-stakes environment, build confidence, and expand their knowledge. Students should arrive in class with writing implements-- paper and a pencil or similar!-- ready to go so that we can get the most out of our time together. Example writing prompts: -Write about a family member. -Write about a trip or vacation you've been on. -Write about a holiday you enjoy. -Write about your pet-- or a pet you'd like to have. Students should be able to write independently before taking this class. Additionally, while it’s always a good idea to try to spell things correctly, we are focused on sentence and paragraph instruction rather than spelling!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about or improve existing understanding of paragraph structure, practice writing in a low-stakes environment, build their confidence as readers and writers, and develop critical thinking skills.

Parental Guidance
Below are my general classroom rules and policies. These will also be explained to students when we begin class!
-For everyone's safety, and to ensure an engaging and social experience, students are required to have working microphones and video for the entirety of this class, positioned such that we can both hear and see them.
-Students are asked not to use filters or virtual backgrounds-- though if there is an important reason to use a virtual background, please just let me know ahead of time that your student will be using one (no questions asked!).
-Students will be asked to introduce themselves by sharing their name, pronoun, and a favorite book.
-The Zoom text chat is set to "host only", meaning students can chat with me, but not to one another or the entire classroom.
