This class is perfect for young artists who may have some experience painting but want to learn more. Each week learners will follow a step-by-step painting process to create one acrylic painting on canvas or paper. The subject matter will vary from week to week and may include: animals, flowers, still life, landscapes, or seasons. The class is structured so that there is a balance between learning technical skills and allowing for fun and creative expression. CLASS STRUCTURE: - 5 minutes to check-in and slide presentation -45 minutes to sketch and paint -5 minutes to share SKILLS TAUGHT: -sketching with simple shapes -blending and mixing colorful backgrounds -color theory such as warm and cool colors and analogous (similar) colors -creating contrast -working with value(lights and darks) to create depth and form -adding texture LESSONS: 1) Sea Turtle 2) Toucan 3) Peacock 4) Tiger 5) Jellyfish 6) Space Shuttle in Outer Space 7) Sunset on Beach 8) Monarch Butterfly 9)Roses 10)Sweet Treats Everyone has a unique way of painting. Learning Goals
1) Learners will create one acrylic painting on watercolor paper, canvas or canvas paper.
2) Learners will utilize one or more painting techniques such as: underpainting with shapes, color mixing, blending, texture.
