Assignments
1-2 hours per week. We will go over all homework assignments in class and students will know how to practice all their pieces and what the goals are for each song or assignment.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Advanced Level
I will teach children how to play the following Stringed instruments. Cello-beginning to advanced levels Violin-beginning to intermediate levels Viola- beginning level Orchestra tutoring-help with any fingerings, bowings, rythms, etc that you find difficult in orchestra class or help preparing excerpts for a higher level orchestra auditions. No ongoing lessons are required. Competition goals-you may need extra help preparing for competition's such as the Solo & Ensemble Festival. No ongoing lessons are required.
Learning Goals
Beginning students will work in a method book and achieve proficiency on their instrument of choice. They will develop good habits right from the start. They will understand how to practice effectively. They will understand the fundamentals of playing.Beginning and intermediate students will learn how to hold their instrument, hold their bow, left hand technique, note reading, and music theory. We will work together to create individual goals on their instrument of choice.Other Details
Pre-Requisites
The only requirements for this class are an instrument. If you have trouble locating a reputable store where to rent or buy an instrument I can help. I will also tell you what music book to purchase based on your level.
Supply List
Children will need an instrument sized to them at a reputable music store. I will recommend music books to purchase based on the level of playing.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am a professional cellist, a recording and performing artist. I have Bachelor's Degree in Cello Performance from Trinity College of Music in London, England. I also have a professional teaching license for grades k=12 in Music. I have also had training in the Suzuki Method including the Every Child Can class and Suzuki Level 1. I grew up playing cello just outside of Washington, DC. I have performed on prestigious stages including The National Cathedral, The Kennedy Center & The Royal Albert Hall in London, England. I taught Strings and General Music in Fairfax County Public Schools and Chesapeake Public Schools for 10 + years. I have been teaching private Cello & strings in my own home studio since leaving the classroom setting to be a stay at home mom. Reviews
