Class experience

Students are familiar with writing code using the MakeCode interface, composing operations and variables, breaking problems into component parts, extracting key information, and developing descriptive models to understand complex systems or facilitate problem-solving. Students understand how automation works and use algorithmic thinking to develop a sequence of steps to create and test automated solutions.
I have a masters degree in computer science and a bachelors degree in applied mathematics and computational science. I also have been teaching Minecraft at my local Boys and Girls club for the past year for grades 1st - 6th. I work there twice a week and run their computer lab. I am named in two patents related to digital signage technology, I have published a couple of papers using computer science and machine learning to solve challenges in environmental science and medicine. I have also had some experience in the video game industry as a developer and tester.
You will need a computer that can run Minecraft Education Edition (ie: a windows PC, a Mac, an iPad or a Chromebook).
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
