Class Experience

Let's face the facts....ALL students need to memorize multiplication facts. However, ALL students are not successful with standard memorization. In this fun, stress-free, and flexible course, your learner is guaranteed to memorize multiplication facts. Division facts and double digit by one digit multiplication are also embedded in this course.

This course does not focus on area models, arrays, or repeated addition. It is simply a fun and engaging course to help your learner memorize multiplication facts. Most learners are required to memorize multiplication facts around 3rd grade. Students who struggle to memorize multiplication facts often have more difficulty as the progress in math that involves fractions and division. If your child is working ahead or a little behind on memorization, this course is perfect for them!

This course will meet over four weeks. Each week, there will be two recorded classes to watch along with various activities. As with all math facts, the more repetition, drill, and practice your learner does, the more confident they will be in their recall of facts.

There will be eight prerecorded sessions:
Class 1 - Learn facts for 0, 1, 2, 5, and 10
Class 2 - 7x7, 3x3, 8x8, 3x4
Class 3 - Double digit by one digit with regrouping
Class 4 - 4x6, 6x6, 4x4, 8x7
Class 5 - Learn the 9's facts
Class 6 - 6x3, 4x7, 6x8, 3x7
Class 7 - 4x8, 7x6, 3x8, and division facts
Class 8 - Review All Skills learned

In addition to the prerecorded sessions, there will be weekly posts with assignments to practice their skills. Each week, students will be given opportunities to interact with one another or with the class in a virtual manner. Various sites such as: Nearpod for interactive presentations, online scavenger hunts, Flipgrid for short videos, and other review games/quizzes will be integrated into the course.

I wilI also post optional activities that students can complete online outside of class if they choose to do so.

Parents: You may recall having to recite multiplication facts repeatedly so you could commit them to your memory. The same is true for your learner. The more your learner will practice the facts over and over, the better they will be a recalling the facts when necessary. You will be provided with the same pictures that we use in class so that your learner can practice with them at home.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have 21+ years teaching in a public school. The majority of my brick and mortar career has been spent in an elementary setting in all subjects. I also have a Ph.D. in Special Education. The strategy I am using for this course has been extremely successful with gifted learners, neruo-typical learners, as well as struggling learners. In fact, I have had some students who were unable to recall addition and subtraction facts, but were easily able to memorize multiplication and division facts with this method.
