Multiplication and Division for Beginners
Class experience
US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner Level
During this class, students can expect to learn strategies for both multiplication and division. For the first week of the course, we will review multiplication facts as a class by playing various games. Students will also be provided with math minutes for the first 5 minutes of each class so that I can informally assess where students are in their learning. The second two weeks of the course will focus on many different strategies to use with multiplication, and by the end of our time...
1. Students will be able to use 1 or more multiplication strategies to efficiently solve a multiplication problem. 2. Students will be able to use 1 or more division strategies to efficiently solve a division problem.
Homework Offered
Assessments Offered
Learner progress will be assessed informally by doing daily math minute worksheets independently at the start of class. Students will have one formal exam on the last day of class, which is described in detail in the class description. All worksheets will be provided by Miss Kaylee. Parents will always be notified if this is not the case.Grades Offered
1. Notebook 2. Pencil 3. Highlighter 4. Graph Paper (Optional) 5. Worksheets provided by Miss Kaylee (Will always post worksheets needed for the day at least 24 hours in advance, on our classroom page.)
Students should spend 30 minutes - 1 hour for 2 of the days that we do not have class time, practicing their skills. Following each class, I will post a note on the classroom page, explaining what was done in class that day, so that parents know what their child should spend time practicing. A tool that is highly recommended for this class is a printer. Any worksheets I provide would best be able to be worked on if printed out. At the end of class, I would appreciate it if students/parents took a picture of student work from that day and send me a picture of it via outschool messages, that way, I can properly evaluate it. If any of this is not possible for you, please reach out, as I am more than happy to accommodate and modify expectations! :)
