Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Students will practice multiplication facts through a Gimkit review game. Gimkit is a platform that is similar to Kahoot; students will join the game from their device and participate electronically. The game covers multiplication facts from 0-12. This class does not go over strategies for solving multiplication questions, but gives students an opportunity to practice their facts and build fluency. There are several different styles of games on Gimkit, and we will play different versions in class. See the schedule below for details!

First Week of the Month: We will play the Classic version of Gimkit. In this game, students earn money by answering questions correctly. They are able to buy different things in the game with their money.

Second Week of the Month: We will play the Fishtopia style, which is like a video game. Students have a character who can answer questions to earn bait, and then use the bait to fish, and then they can sell their fish for cash. They can then pay for upgraded gear for their character or they can take a boat ride to visit other areas in the game.

Third Week of the Month: We will play the Classic version of Gimkit. In this game, students earn money by answering questions correctly. They are able to buy different things in the game with their money.

Fourth Week of the Month: We will play the Fishtopia style, which is like a video game. Students have a character who can answer questions to earn bait, and then use the bait to fish, and then they can sell their fish for cash. They can then pay for upgraded gear for their character or they can take a boat ride to visit other areas in the game.

Fifth Week of the Month (if there is a fifth week): We will play a short version of the Classic Gimkit game and a short version of Fishtopia.

Hello! So glad you are here! I am excited to be teaching on Outschool. I have taught elementary school for four years, with 1.5 of those years being online. I am currently teaching 6th grade science. I love teaching multiplication, division, fractions, phonics, science, and more! I love connecting with my students and helping them learn. It is very rewarding to see my students progress and grow. I believe that every child has potential, and I love helping them realize their potential.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from BYU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in TESOL K-12 (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages). I also finished my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Western Governor’s University.

I love running, waterskiing, and my dog, Daisy! I also love music and play the piano and the violin.

I can't wait to get to know you!
