Let's go on a mission to build your confidence in writing a 5-paragraph essay! Get ready to launch into a self-paced, 7-week writing journey to conquer the basic five paragraph essay. Receive personalized feedback on all your assignments. This is an interactive class with teacher-led videos, short writing exercises each week and one five paragraph essay over the course of the class. This interactive course is an asynchronous environment, that will give you the time you need to master the writing skills explored in this class. I bring expertise to the virtual classroom with over 13 years of writing instruction in the middle school and high school classroom, both online and in person. No live classes on Zoom, offering a self-paced and flexible learning journey! You work at your pace - where, when, and how you want by watching pre-recorded videos, completing digital assessments, and posting your work to our classroom. What you and your student get: ➡️ 1-2 writing-based assignments per week to practice key writing components ➡️ One example 5-Paragraph essay provided for you as a model to complete your own essay that is due in week 6. ➡️ 1-2 per week - No planning needed on your part! I do the planning for you. ➡️ Written or Video feedback on submitted assignments ➡️ Teacher-led videos, writing organizers, digital and print assignments ➡️ Work 30-50 min per level (unit) ➡️ Practice and consistent feedback Each lesson has 3 parts: 1) Teacher-guided Mini Lesson (Recorded Video w/ Slides) 2) Guided Practice 3) Independent Practice (A writing assignment or application activity submitted for feedback). Lesson 1:
Writing Effective Sentences
Students will be instructed through a video-guided lesson to learn and practice writing sentences with strong subjects and verbs, avoid sentence fragments, and use various lengths of sentences in their writing.
Students will work through practice activities (handouts) to master skills.
By the end of the lesson students will submit one paragraph using the strategies they have learned in the lesson.

Unit 2: Level 2: Understanding the Essay Prompt and Sources
Lesson 2:
Understanding the Essay Prompt and Sources
Students will be instructed through a video-guided lesson to read and understand the essay prompt provided by the teacher.
They will then be guided on how to effectively read, annotate (highlight) and take notes while reading related sources.
*These sources will give them quotes and evidence to add to their essay.
By the end of the lesson students will submit a note-taking graphic ogranizer for teacher review.

Unit 3: Level 3: Crafting the Thesis and Essay Outline
Lesson 3:
Building a Thesis and Outline
Students will be instructed through a video-guided lesson to start their essay outline by writing a thesis statement (main idea sentence) for their essay.
Students will then add to their essay outline by writing two main ideas for their body-paragraphs.
Students will add information from the sources in lesson 2 to their essay outline.
They will finish the lesson by outlining their conclusion paragraph.
By the end of the lesson students will submit the essay outline for teacher review.

Students will be instructed through a video-guided lesson to set up a Word Document in MLA Format style.
