50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will participate in a mindful drawing experience based on the Zentangle method. We will begin with a meditation and practice of gratitude. This quiets the mind and prepares our brain to create! They will learn to focus on one simple step at a time. As they learn to focus on one simple line/pattern they will create a beautiful piece of art. No two art pieces are alike! We are all different and so is the art we create. While teaching, I focus on the concept of "there are no mistakes, just opportunities". Students will learn to use this method to relax, build hand-eye coordination and develop the muscle memory to gain confidence drawing. Zentangle also leads to improvement in handwriting for many participants! The Zentangle method has been used by many to calm anxiety and help to relieve stress. It is another tool in the artists toolbox that I find indispensable. The lesson focuses on art demonstrations and practice time. At the end we will share our drawings. The sharing at the end is often the most fun!! ;-) *Class times are approximate and vary based on student ability and number of enrolled learners. Classes are designed so that they will not run longer than the time allotted.* *Late/Missed Class Policy* All courses will begin on time as long as one learner is in the classroom. If no students are in the classroom at the assigned class time, the teacher will leave a message on the discussion board and exit after 10 min. Enrolling in class does not guarantee access to class recordings - per OutSchool's policy, they are shared at the teacher's discretion and sometimes have to remain private to ensure learner safety.
Learning Goals
Students will learn a method to relax and create art with simple tools!

A fine point black marker- I recommend a Micron .05 A pencil A blending stub (tortillion) A gel pen- more than one if you like color Practice paper- I use post-it notes A sketch book or small square of paper: 3.5 x 3.5 inches, this is the size paper you see in the images. I like to use a good heavy paper, a little tooth is good. But stay away from rough papers. **But seriously, use what you have! If you enjoy this type of drawing you can invest in good tools later!
