Description

Class Experience

Why do we do math in a certain order? Learn the order of operations in a fun, energetic way that makes it seem less like math and more like a game. We will also explore why there are some myths out there claiming that the PEMDAS method doesn't work -- where are the naysayers going wrong?

In this class, we will learn to complete the order of operations, and what each part means:
Parentheses - how did these English symbols get into math?

Exponents - how are exponents and multiplication...

Many teachers love to help kids learn. I live to teach them to love learning.

A pencil and paper or whiteboard (to practice as we go).

Students will complete a massive, seemingly-overwhelming "messy room" of a problem together to watch the numbers "tidy themselves up". By the end, every student will have demonstrated an understanding of each step in the process as part of the presentation.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
