The way I teach this skill is very easy to learn and your child will be prepared for success in Algebra. I will show students how to do an exercise on the white board. They will learn by actually doing example exercises during class. I will repeat with another exercise and will explain as many times as needed until the students are ready to do the exercises by themselves. Once started, I will check their answers for accuracy and follow up with any necessary explanations. I encourage all participants to try as many exercises as possible. I follow up the class with an upload of homework with the solutions. Pre- Requisite: Algebra 1 at least. The course breakdown is as follows: Week 1: Review of literal equations. (equations that contain only variables) Week 2: Converting linear equations.(Standard form to slope y-intercept form and back) Week 3: Converting point slope form to slope-y intercept then to standard form. Week 4: Completing the square.(using whole numbers and fractions) Week 5: Converting quadratics(parabolas) from vertex form to standard form and back. Week 6: Converting circle equations.(general form to standard form and back) Week 7: Basic manipulations and conversions using trigonometric functions. ( sinx , cosx , tanx etc.) Week 8: Logarithmic manipulations. Article from NeuroTray Does Math improve brain function? October 4, 2020 by Jaimar Tuarez The brain uses mathematics to interpret the world, It applies the calculation of probabilities to determine the causes of what is happening around us. Does math improve brain function? “Mathematics is food for the brain” a statement like this is bound to raise a lot of questions, but math professor Dr. Arthur Benjamin knew exactly what he was talking about. After all, math is all about finding patterns and making connections. Math requires abstract and concrete thinking, which leads to the development of the brain’s muscles. Studying math is a springboard to increasing your overall intelligence, and with regular practice, you get better at various academic pursuits. How is this possible? Well, math allows you to see connections and develop neural pathways that strengthen your brain. Mathematics enhances your analytical and problem-solving skills, creates the basis for systemic thinking, improves the skills required to arrive at logical conclusions, expands the mind to handle unfamiliar tasks with ease and confidence, learns through trial and error, and promotes cautious and careful thinking.
