In this one-time class, students will learn how to make French macarons and learn just how easy and fun they are to make.
The students will be taught how to make traditional French macarons, complete with delicious fillings. From learning how to make the perfect meringue, mixing, piping, resting, baking and filling, the students will leave class with a good understanding of the process as well as their own gorgeous macarons to share with family and friends. My class is very informal. Students are encouraged to ask questions as well as to talk to me and the other students. I will basically explain the process...
Students will learn the different stages of meringues and how to tell when they have reached each stage. They will also understand the science behind the process and how the ingredients work together to create these finicky little cookies.
Ingredients Almond flour Egg whites (from whole eggs. NOT a carton!) Granulated sugar Powdered sugar Gel color Sprinkles, if desired Desired filling Equipment Baking sheets KITCHEN SCALE!! (This is a must!) Pastry bags and 1/4-1/2 inch round tips Stand mixer with whisk attachment Parchment paper or silpats Silicone spatulas Spoons Bowls Pitcher or wide mouthed cup for holding pastry bag
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents will need to be available to assist with any part of the process, including working with the oven.
