 Week 1
Lesson 1
Sunlight Zone (Epipelagic)
The sunlight zone is crucial for marine life, as it provides abundant light for photosynthesis and sustains diverse ecosystems. This zone is teeming with a wide variety of animals, including colorful coral reefs, schools of fish, and sun-loving species like dolphins and sea turtles.
Lesson 2
Twilight Zone (Mesopelagic)
In the twilight zone, sunlight is scarce, casting a dim, mysterious atmosphere. Animals in this zone emit bioluminescent glows, creating a mesmerizing spectacle in the depths. They possess remarkable adaptations tailored to thrive in the twilight's shifting balance between light and shadow.
Lesson 3
Midnight Zone (Bathypelagic)
In the study of the midnight zone, students venture into a realm of darkness where crushing pressures prevail. Here, they'll discover the astonishing adaptations that enable marine life to thrive in these extreme conditions, showcasing nature's ingenuity in the face of profound challenges.
Lesson 4
Abyssal Zone (Abyssopelagic)
In this exploration of the abyssal zone, students uncover the chilling depths where extreme cold temperatures and crushing pressures define the environment. They'll encounter fascinating scavenger animals adapted to survive in these harsh conditions, shedding light on the remarkable resilience of life in the deep sea.
Lesson 5
Hadal Zone (Trenches)
We will delve into the mysteries of the ocean's deepest trenches, exploring unique species that inhabit these remote environments.
  • Students will have a greater understanding about the five zones of the oceans, the characteristics of those environments, and the animals that have adapted to live there.
