Homework will always be to have the students enrolled teach their parents the concepts they are learning. I am a believer that if the student can teach it, then they are mastering it.Assessment
Assessments will be in the form of escape rooms. The students will work together at the end of each week to figure out the clues using the methods we have been taught that week to escape the room together in time.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 5
As I've been teaching my "Easy Multiplication" class, I've noticed that there are quite a few kids that need a course on the foundations of multiplication before they can get into the actual multiplication concepts. Some of the foundations that are needed are refreshers on patterns, addition rules, quicker ways to add, fact families, doubles, and what multiplication is and why it works. Most kids are just knowing that they need to memorize these facts and without the how's the why's and the patterns behind multiplication, they really have a hard time with the memorization. So that is what we focus on. The course outline will be as follows: Week 1: Multiplication rules and patterns Week 2: Multiplication rules and patterns Week 3: Multiplication rules and patterns Week 4: Double Digit Multiplication and Escape Room Assessment Week 5: Doubling and halving, and division. Week 6: Division, multiples, and expanded form Week 7: Division Week 8: Review week and Escape Room Assessment Week 9: Fractions are Division Problems Week 10: Mixed numbers, improper fractions, and whole numbers Week 11: Adding and subtracting fractions Week 12: Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Escape Room Assessment I'm very passionate that my students have fun in class, because if students are having fun, they are most definitely learning. So, to do that we will be using escape rooms as a means of assessment. I will also be using games, some lecture, story telling, etc to help the students understand the concepts that are being taught. I really am aiming that the students will have a good grasp of multiplication as well as an understanding of ways to continue to problem solve throughout the rest of their school and life experiences. Also, if a student is having struggles understanding any of the concepts being taught, I may recommend a 1x tutoring session. I am a certified Elementary Education teacher with a bachelors degree from Utah State University and an extensive background in mathematics. I have taught addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurement, fractions, decimals, etc. to many students.
Learning Goals
My goals are for students to have strong mathematical structures in place by the end of the 6 weeks and ways for them "Think" math instead of "Do" math.

Hi there fabulous parents and learners! I'm Teacher Erin and I'm really excited to start working with you and your learners.
Just a little bit about me though first!
I've been teaching for 18+ years and have been teaching online for the last 5. I REALLY love teaching math, creative writing, and drawing, though you may see me with a fun side class once in a while like baking or crafty projects.
I live in Utah with my six kids (yes, 6 kids... 4 boys and 2 girls), my husband, 2 cats, and super fun dog in whom you will probably meet once in a while in class.
My main focus in teaching is to make sure you are having fun while learning because learning is REALLY fun once we decide it can be!
I can't wait to meet you all and get started teaching you!
