Class Experience

Lets be honest... Mad libs are hilarious! (If any of you parents haven't watched Mad lib theater with Jimmy Fallon, go do it now! You're welcome!) What is great about them though is that it teaches students what a noun, verb, adverb, pronoun, etc. are. It can also help broaden their vocabulary to think of other (and funnier) words to include. There will be new Mad Libs weekly for this ongoing class. There is no previous information or experience needed for this class.
At the beginning of each class we will do short introductions to get to know everyone in the class. We will then review the different parts of speech needed to complete the Mad Lib. We will talk about different examples for each of these as well. Students will then take turns filling in a section of the mad lib. Then we will reveal the (hopefully) hysterical story we came up with together. 2 mad libs may be done if time permits.

Week 1: (Oct 4-8) Pumpkin picking Mad Lib
Week 2: (Oct 11-15) Apples! Mad Lib
Week 3: (Oct 18-22) My school gets pretty weird at Halloween Mad Lib
Week 4: (Oct 25-29) Throwing the perfect Halloween Party Mad Lib
* This schedule shows the first 4 weeks beginning in Oct 2021. If classes remain having students, I will continue to add more weeks of Mad Libs. To add to the fun, I will try to have the mad libs match with the seasons and holidays at that particular time, though there will be generic ones done as well. *

Overall I'm a pretty laid back teacher. The main point of this class is to have fun while we're learning. My goal is to have all of my classes be a stress free environment!

Hello!! My name is Amanda. (My students can call me Amanda, or Teacher, or Teacher Amanda. Whatever they prefer). I am so excited to teach your child! I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family, Consumer, and Human Development, and a Master of Education Degree in Psychology. I worked about 2 years in the counseling office in schools(helping students aged 12-18), but now I stay home with my 2 kids. I also spent 2 years teaching Chinese Children English online, ages 5-14.

Working with the school counselors, my favorite thing to talk to students about is their futures and planning what post high school holds for them. I want to include classes that will help students with this and give them resources to use.

I am also a book junky, especially YA readers. I'm planning on adding more book club and trivia classes to go with different books as I read more.

My teaching style is usually pretty calm, relaxed, and chill. I love to joke around and have fun with my students.

My favorite thing to do is go on adventures with my husband and kids. We especially love spending time in the mountains. I also love reading, going on long walks, and taking bubble baths.

I am looking forward to seeing your student in my classroom!!
