Description

Class Experience

This course will continue on with learning how to play the saxophone. We will begin on page 14 of the Essential Elements Book that was used in the Beginning lessons class. 
Week 1- Essential Elements Alto Saxophone Book 1 page 14 (tied notes and dotted half notes). Independent practice #65
Week 2- Book page 15 (time signature 3/4, accent notes) independent practice #72-compose your own music
Week 3- Book page 16 (accidentals, natural, and 1st and 2nd endings) independent practice #78 or #79 page 17. 
Week 4- Book page 17 play a Christmas song (learn the new note G) page 18 90 & 91 (D.C. al Fine) Independent practice Daily Warm -Ups Section
Week 5- begin by playing a warm up from page 18. Book page 19 (learn a new note C#, slurs) Independent Practice exercise #98
Week 6- Book page 20 (new note F#, phrasing, new key signature). 
I have played the saxophone for over 30 years. I am currently teaching two sections of beginning saxophone lessons on Outschool. I play the saxophone in the orchestra at our church, and have participated in Jazz Bands, Concert Bands, Marching Bands and pep bands.
Students will be expected to practice 15-20 minutes 5 days a week. They will be assigned a specific exercise or song to practice each week.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will assess students' abilities and progress by listening to them play during class, and identify notes, key signatures, etc.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
