Teacher expertise and credentials
I am passionate about connecting great literature to the skills and strategies that create successful readers.

My classes are for students that enjoy diving into a good book. I will be there to guide your young learner into thinking deeply and using the appropriate skills or strategies to help build their comprehension skills. During class, students will enjoy listening to the chosen book, I will model and guide their thinking for the chosen skill/strategy aligned with the book. After class, students will be able to apply these skills to books they read independently.

Math classes will also be available. I truly enjoy teaching young learners how to use reading skills and strategies to improve math skills. Word problems can be a struggle for young learns and I incorporate reading skills like visualizing and making connections to help aid in building confidence in math.

I have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and I have been a teacher for 16 years. My experience spans grades K-3. I believe that read alouds are an integral part of building reading comprehension skills. My blog, www.rebeccajeanette.com is dedicated to connecting great literature with skills/strategies and explaining why they are important for young readers to learn.
