This reading session begins with a Learner check-in about any recent reading accomplishments or challenges(2-3mins). Learner begins reading and analyzing text for 15 mins. Learner receives encouragement and praise for the duration of reading. Learner receives support in any pronunciation and decoding. New vocabulary are highlighted. Learner acquires literary and cultural knowledge as well as familiarity with various text structures and elements. 
 This reading practice program is designed to develop proficient readers with the ability to comprehend texts across a range of types and disciplines. Readers will interpret words and phrases as they are used in the texts. Learners will evaluate the claims and ideas presented.
