Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 5
This reading session begins with a Learner check-in about any recent reading accomplishments or challenges(2-3mins). Learner begins reading and analyzing text for 15 mins. Learner receives encouragement and praise for the duration of reading. Learner receives support in any pronunciation and decoding. New vocabulary are highlighted. Learner acquires literary and cultural knowledge as well as familiarity with various text structures and elements. This reading practice program is designed to develop proficient readers with the ability to comprehend texts across a range of types and disciplines. Readers will interpret words and phrases as they are used in the texts. Learners will evaluate the claims and ideas presented.
Learning Goals
Learners will practice reading skills and improve comprehension and reading with emphasis. Learners will have support, engage with text and gain fluency with various types of reading material necessary in student life. This is a stand alone course for ongoing support with weekly assignments or as an additional session to keep chapter books and novels and biography moving at a faster pace.
