In this class learners will identify a repeating pattern, predict what comes next in a pattern, and create their own pattern using various materials. It would be helpful if learners had some prior exposure to repeating patterns, but not necessary. We will start by talking about patterns we see every day. I will also share a video clip of a fun pattern video and song. Learners will then take turns completing patterns created by the teacher by stating what comes next, and then create their own patterns with various materials. At the end of the lesson, learners can use the provided printable to create and share a pattern of their own making! If time permits, we will complete a variety of fun and interactive pattern activities with body movements.

Hi! I am so excited to be a part of the Outschool community. I have a Bachelor's of Elementary Education from the University of Alberta. I have 7 years experience teaching in a classroom setting, from Kindergarten to Grade 6. I also have over 6 months experience teaching English online. I am a stay at home mom to two kiddos ages 2 and 5. They keep me busy and add so much excitement and joy to our home.
I left the brick and mortar school setting to spend more time with my family, although I do miss so many things about the classroom. I am looking forward to this opportunity to get back to what I love best-teaching and sharing my love of learning.
Currently, I am offering classes in early literacy, numeracy, and art skills, although I am open to seeing where this journey takes me!
I believe young children learn best in an environment where they feel safe and valued. It is important that they are interested and engaged and have a personal investment in what they are learning.
