What will be taught? In this class, I will be teaching the student strategies to help him/her decode words and read the words in sentences. We will also do activities where we manipulate letter sounds in words, activities with rhyming words, and other reading activities. What topics will you cover? The goal for the learner is to learn strategies to help him/her be able to read words in an easier manner.
Homework Offered
It would be helpful if the student could practice these decoding strategies at home after class as well in a playful manner. It would be also helpful for a parent to read a book to the child each day, on his/her level and then have the child to try to read it back to the parent.Assessments Offered
From time to time, I will be doing informal assessments to see if the child uses the strategies that he/she has learned in class to read words.Grades Offered
